Cabinets Painting
Do not change your cabinets, repair and paint them for a fraction of the cost!
Our Cabinet Painting Service
Many homeowners often underestimate the intricacies of kitchen cabinet painting, assuming it to be as straightforward as any other DIY project. A mere trip to the local home improvement store for a gallon of paint and a new brush, coupled with determination, is believed to suffice.
In reality, the process of professionally painting cabinets is far more complex, involving meticulous steps such as hardware removal, hardware installation, and the use of various preparation materials and equipment. Some requests even necessitate specialty equipment, which we proactively order in advance to avoid any delays during your project.
Our commitment is to streamline the process, ensuring efficient project management with a dedicated presence on-site each day in your luxury home. Opting for premium paint for cabinets is not just a matter of aesthetics; it’s a strategic investment. This type of paint not only enhances the beauty of cabinetry over extended periods but also serves as preventative maintenance for your property investments, sparing you from messy makeovers 10-20 years down the line.
The Correct Paint
People assume that using paint from the paint store is fine to paint their cabinets. Unfortunately, that is not a correct assumption. You see, paint from the usual stores like The Home Depot, Sherwin Williams or PPG, is not made for cabinets. Regular paint is not made to withstand grease, heat, and extreme use. You can paint your cabinets using those “cheaper” paints, but the cabinets will not last long. We prefer, and only use, paint made especially for cabinets. We are referring to Renner, Centurion, or other quality made-for-cabinets paints.
High-quality paint may cost a bit more upfront, but it’s worth every penny. The durability, ease of use, and beautiful color of the best paint for kitchen cabinets will save you money in the long run. You won’t have to worry about repainting your cabinets every few years, and you’ll enjoy the beautiful color for years to come. So, even though you may spend a little more upfront, in the end, you’ll get more value for your money. Let’s not forget about the environmental impact. We all want to do our part to protect the environment, and choosing the right paint is a great way to do just that. The best paint for kitchen cabinets is low-VOC, meaning it produces fewer harmful fumes. This not only helps the environment, but it also makes the painting process safer and more comfortable for you and your family. So, you can paint your cabinets with peace of mind, knowing you’re making a positive impact on the environment.
Prep is Key
Most cheap painters out there will not prep enough. We have seen painters who did not even took off the cabinet doors and spray painted them still on. Such an important investment requires the most thorough preparation. Our cabinet painting process starts with sealing off the area where we will be painting. That way we do not paint your valuables and we avoid dust contamination of your home. Laying down builder paper on your floors and adding plastic all around the kitchen with proper ventilation of doorways to enter and exit the area are crucial. Our second step is to clean and degrease your cabinets followed by a proper sanding. If we do not clean and degrease the cabinets, paint will not stick to them and will chip off soon. The last thing you want is to spend money and valuable time getting your cabinets looking fabulous again just to have them peel off in a couple of months or years. Remember the kitchen can get very hot because of the cooking and and cause dirt and grime to build up on the surfaces, especially if your family cooks a lot, you work as a chef for a living, or if you have children. It’s also important to caulk the interior boxes or around end caps when painting near walls and floors too. As soon as we clean your cabinets, we label them by location, and start spraying them with the correct primer. Adding two coats of primer ensures the paint will stick better to the cabinets and will be more resistant to scuffs, last longer, and endure the rigors of a kitchen.

Cabinet Painting FAQs
The cost of your painting project can vary significantly depending on several key factors — including the scope of the work, the amount of paint needed, the level of surface preparation and detail involved. For example, a basic cabinet refresh is a very different undertaking from a job that involves extensive surface prep, thorough priming, and the application of two full coats for superior coverage, adhesion, and long-term durability.
At Houston Painters Co, we take all these variables into account to ensure your investment delivers maximum value, both aesthetically and structurally. Proper preparation and product selection aren’t just optional — they’re essential to a finish that lasts.
It is our policy to use only made for cabinet paint. That way we protect ourselves, provide the best value and service to you, and ensure the final product is of the highest quality.

That is why we recommend using the highest quality paint, a paint that is actually made for cabinets, and that it will not only look beautiful like factory finish, but it wil last years and years.
